Baltimore Government Want Answers Over Transportation From Gov. Hogan
Federal, state and local Maryland officials are calling on Republican Gov. Larry Hogan's administration to provide answers about how he plans to address Baltimore's transportation needs after canceling a proposed light rail project.
Members of the state's congressional delegation met Monday with local officials to discuss plans with Maryland Transportation Secretary Pete Rahn at the department's headquarters in Hanover.
Rahn says the Hogan administration wants to start implementing improvements in months, not years, and he says he's confident the state can do that.
But elected officials in Baltimore expressed frustration over the governor's decision to cancel the Red Line without discussing it with them.
Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, a Democrat, says moving Baltimore to the back of the line in addressing transportation concerns for another decade "is simply not an option."
