Baltimore Mayor To Attend Tivoly Avenue Demolition
BALTIMORE, Md.- Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake will join officials and representatives today at the demolition of the last 98 blighted properties on Tivoly Avenue.
The demolition is part of the Vacants to Value Initiative, a plan to encourage growth and improve overall quality of life in Baltimore city neighborhoods.
The program is recognized internationally and has leveraged more than $107 million dollars in private investment to demolish or rehabilitate more than 3,000 vacant homes.
Baltimore has demolished 97 blighted or vacant properties on Tivoly Avenue alone since 2008 to spur community safety and development.
The demolition takes place today at 2 p.m. at 2781 Tivoly Ave.
Councilwoman Mary Pat Clarke, representatives of Baltimore Housing, and members of the Coldstream Homestead Montebello community will also be in attendance.
