ASAP Ferg to Replace Kodak Black on Future's "Nobody Safe" Tour

RadioOnFire.com - Kodak Black just finished beating an assault charge, but still faces time for violating the conditions of his house arrest. The Pompano Beach rapper will thus learn his fate when he returns to court for his sentencing date, on May 4. Coincidentally, that also happens to be the day he had been scheduled to join Future as he opens up The Nobody Safe tour.
The 37 date tour kicks off in Memphis the very date Kodak faces the judge. It will travel on through until June 30, when it comes to its completion in Las Vegas. Kodak would have been fine performing alongside the Atlanta trap star, as his house arrest stipulates that he can indeed tend to his work related business. Kodak was sent back to jail when it was discovered that he had made a couple of unauthorized stops around town in February, attending an Adrien Broner boxing match and hitting up a strip club or two that weren't on the agenda.
He was supposed to travel as one of the tour's main performers, along with Migos and Tory Lanez and Young Thug and ASAP Ferg were going to make occasional appearances, but it has been learned that ASAP Ferg's presence on the tour has been upgraded so that he fills Kodak's spot for the tour's duration. Others have since been added to the show as well, including A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, who will do spot dates, and Zoey Dollaz, who is set to make consistent appearances.

Desiigner Announces "Liife of Desiigner" Album

RadioOnFire.com - Desiigner has been giving fans samples of what they could expect from his debut album, over the past couple of months, with four new singles having surfaced on Youtube and SoundCloud thus far in the new year. And heading into the weekend, the Brooklyn rapper invited fans over Twitter to check out material he is yet to have released, in person, by coming out to see him perform at The Outlet Tour. He also provided some hype for his day one's, with a message that announced a special surprise.
"Droppiing The Album iiN July," he tweeted.
The early Summer date gives Desiigner three months to get "Outlet," "Holy Ghost," "Thank God I Got It," and "Up" on loop in as many cars and clubs as possible. Outlet and Holy Ghost are currently enjoying a good run, with the latter having topped 4 million cumulative spins, while the song he chose to name his tour after has amassed more than 4 million on Youtube and an additional 3.5 million on SoundCloud. But it remains to be seen if the GOOD Music newbie has a hit that will do anything close to what his 2016 mega hit "Panda" did. It has been 64 weeks since the song entered the Billboard top 100, and it continues to hang on to a spot on the chart, coming in at #100 last week.
Besides the month of its release, and title, Desiigner didn't disclose any further information about his Liife Of Desiigner LP.

DJ Clue Tells Swizz Beatz that He's Ready for His Battle with Funk Flex

RadioOnFire.com - New York DJ's have been bringing the art of DJing back to hip hop over the past several months, and if there is one battle that would absolutely have to go down to complete a DJ battle series in the big apple, it's Funk Flex v.s. DJ Clue. With Clue being the mixtape elder and Flex holding down radio since the mid 90's, it's only right that the turn table peers follow up on the thirst for more that Swizz Beatz and Just Blaze left fans of the art form with, back when they went head to head in February.
Back in March Flex creatively took up the challenge, then posed the get down to Clue while spinning; scratching a sample of Swizz's voice asking: "Clue is it confirmed, or we scared?" On Friday, April 28, Swizz finally caught up with the Desert Storm DJ, and asked whether he's ready for a showdown, while Casanova 2X was rolling the camera to film his response. "I'm always ready," Clue replied, saying he wouldn't need any time to prepare.
A Flex vs Clue battle would definitely keep the intrigue going for old school style DJ battles. Earlier this month Just Blaze took to social media to share that he had been having discussions with Timbaland and Pharrell about possibly getting up to compete for the culture. According to Just, Timbo had hit him up after they discussed the possibility, to tell him that he had personally reached out to Pharrell, and that they had started talks on possibly representing VA in a super battle.

Judge Rules that Cosby Talking About Qualudes Can Be Used in Court

RadioOnFire.com - The judge overseeing the pretrial proceedings involving Bill Cosby's alleged rape of an employee of his Temple University alma mater has ruled that excerpts from a 2005 deposition, in which he makes mention of the administering of Quaaludes to her, may be used as evidence against him.
Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge Steven O'Neill ruled on two requests pushed forward by the prosecution. In addition to the 2005 deposition, he was asked to rule on whether an excerpt from a book he wrote, titled "Childhood," may be raised during trial. In the book, Cosby at one point makes a reference to "Spanish Fly" that alleged victim Andrea Constand's legal team believes in projecting his the light in which he views date rape drugs. Cosby calls Spanish Fly an "aphrodisiac so potent that it could have made Lena Horne surrender to Fat Albert," in the book. Judge O'Neill would turn down the request of the prosecution to use the excerpt in the trial.
The legal battle erected before Cosby stems from an accusation made by Constand after they had sexual relations in 2004. Constand claims that she had been an invited guest in Cosby's home one evening, having shown up in comfortable clothes per his request. But she says she had no intentions to bed the legendary comedian and didn't anticipate what would happen after she took some pills he offered her to "take the edge off," in light of some personal struggles she had made him aware of at the time. According to Constand, she wound up being sexually assaulted by Cosby that night.
Cosby has maintained that Constand knowingly took the pills and that the sex was consensual. During the '05 deposition that the prosecution will use to challenge him with, Cosby admits to offering drugs that numerous women would accept and consent to taking before they'd lay up with him. The ruling will serve as an obstacle for Cosby's defense, as they attempt to save him from possibly doing 10 or more years in prison. His trial begins on June 5.

Court Says Aaron Hernandez's Estate is Worth Nothing

RadioOnFire.com - To the misfortune of his fiancee and 4-year-old girl, court records reveal that Aaron Hernandez's estate is worth "$0.00," with "no monies available and no identifiable personal assets."
Hernandez does have a $1.3 million mansion that has been sitting on the market for over a year, but the mother of his child and his daughter herself will likely see just a portion of what is brought in by its sale, as the mother of Hernandez's murder victim, Odin Lloyd, is said to be expecting a cut to settle a wrongful death lawsuit she has filed against the former New England Patriots star. With the court having approved Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez's request that her authority over his estate be expanded, she will at least get to be in charge of that much.
Meanwhile, investigators continue to examine the evidence found along with Hernandez's hanged body. The medical examiner immediately ruled Hernandez's cause of death to be a suicide, but since the discovery, a number of sensational stories have hit the press, as his family has fought to gather possession of as many artifacts as can be found, particularly those items, such as his letters, that bare sentimental value.

Trump Warns "Major, Major" Conflict with North Korea is Possible

RadioOnFire.com - The US and North Korea have not been seeing eye-to-eye in terms of diplomacy matters, and during an Oval Office interview, Trump said that a major conflict with North Korea is a possibility unless both parties can come to a diplomatic understanding. He said, "There is a chance that we could end up having a major, major conflict with North Korea. Absolutely." The president did note that he wanted the scenario to play out peacefully, but also said: "We'd love to solve things diplomatically but it's very difficult." This comes after the Trump administration said: "North Korea is an urgent national security threat and top foreign policy priority."
Trump spoke about how North Korea posed a major challenge for him. He was asked if he thought Kim Jong Un was rational and responded with, "He's 27 years old. His father dies, took over a regime. So say what you want but that is not easy, especially at that age. I'm not giving him credit or not giving him credit, I'm just saying that's a very hard thing to do. As to whether or not he's rational, I have no opinion on it. I hope he's rational."

2017 NFL First-Round Draft Results Have Concluded

RadioOnFire.com - The 2017 NFL Draft came and went in Philadelphia on Thursday, April 27, and left fans who were eager to learn where the most talented crop of young offensive players would land, stoked to see what teams like Chicago, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Los Angeles, Carolina, Cincinnati, Kansas City and Houston will do this upcoming season. That's because the top half of the first round's picks was dominated by quarterbacks, wide receivers, and running backs, with eight of the first twelve teams choosing from those three positions. It was the most top-12 skill position player selections since the turn of the century.
While the three QB's, three WR's, and two RB's packed into the first dozen picks might have been all the hype for the Fantasy Football legion, however, it was a defensive player, in Texas A&M's Myles Garrett who came in at the top of the class, with Cleveland selecting to go with the defensive end, despite their own need for a stable offense. Cleveland would later pile on the D, with their selection of Safety Jabrill Peppers from Michigan. The Browns would round out their Thursday picks by taking the speedy tight end David Njoku from Miami at number 29. By most accounts, it was the most impressive first round showing for Hue Jackson's AFC North squad.
Trades were the other big story of the night, with Chicago so intent on moving up one spot ahead of San Francisco for the second selection, that they gave up this year's 67th and 111th overall picks, as well as a third-round selection in the 2018 draft, to switch places. They had their eyes set on quarterback Mitchell Trubisky [North Carolina] and they got him. Kansas City and Houston would do the same, as both teams were in the bidding for a quarterback, but K.C. proving to want one much more, as they surrendered two first-round picks and a third round pick to move up 17 slots, where they were able to land Texas Tech standout Patrick Mahomes. Houston came up two picks later to take Deshaun Watson out of Clemson.
The first round picks would round up as follows:

1. Cleveland Browns: Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M
2. Chicago Bears: Mitchell Trubisky, QB, North Carolina
3. San Francisco 49ers: Solomon Thomas, DE, Stanford
4. Jacksonville Jaguars: Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU

6. New York Jets: Jamal Adams, S, LSU

RadioOnFire.com - A few weeks back, Dr. David Dao was forcefully removed from a United Airlines flight, leaving him bloodied in the process.
Dao was dragged by his arms from the plane, and the entire ordeal was caught on video. Since then, United CEO Oscar Munoz has apologized on behalf of the company and made it clear that he wanted to do everything he could to make the situation right. Now, Dr. Dao reached a settlement with United for injuries he suffered at the hands of their staff members.
According to his attorney, Dao suffered a concussion, a broken nose, and lost two teeth because of the ordeal. The doctor's attorney also noted that according to the terms of the settlement between both parties, the amount Dao received would stay undisclosed.
United made an announcement in relation to the incident, making it clear that they would be implementing new policies for their flights to make sure an incident like the one Dao went through will not happen moving forward. Dao's attorney told the press that United claimed responsibility for the incident, saying, "Mr. Munoz said he was going to do the right thing, and he has. In addition, United has taken full responsibility for what happened on Flight 3411, without attempting to blame others, including the City of Chicago. For this acceptance of corporate accountability, United is to be applauded."
In the statement United made, they said the company "breached public trust, and it's a serious breach." Their new policy ensures that they will no longer use police to take customers off of overbooked flights. Along with that, United is promising additional training for employees.

11 Fox News Employees File Lawsuit Over Racial Discrimination

RadioOnFire.com - Emmy award-winning anchor Kelly Wright lead a press conference announcing a class action lawsuit he is taking part in, that charges Fox News with racial discrimination, on Wednesday, April 26. Wright is one of 11 current and past employees of the network who joined together in filing the complaint at the Bronx Supreme Court on Tuesday, during what has proven to be a trying time for Fox, as it faces mounting allegations from women charging sexual harassment as well.

“Somewhere along the line, (Fox) lost their way and they’ve failed to include equality for all. The (network) failed to be fair and balanced for all of our employees regardless of race, gender, faith, creed or color,” Wright said, while attesting to the suit's claim that Fox has exhibited “abhorrent, intolerable, unlawful and hostile racial discrimination.” After 14 years with the station, if anyone were able to make the claim, it would be Wright, who cited the corporation as participating in a "culture of systemic and institutional racial bias. Fox has denied the allegations brought forth in the suit, and promised to "vigorously" fight the case.

Tichaona Brown and Tabrese Wright, two employees from the payroll department, were the first to launch the grievance. Wright admitted to taking so long to put his support behind measures to expose racism in the network, because he didn't feel empowered to concede his personal interests. But with the pressure to confess building on his conscience, he was brought to pray about it through tears. “I said, ‘I can no longer sit in silence, collect my paycheck, and act like I didn’t experience racial bias on my own level — an on-air personality',” Wright said.

R. Kelly Sued by Mississippi Man for Alleged Affair With Wife

RadioOnFire.com - A few days after performing at a recent concert in Jackson, Mississippi, R&B Icon R. Kelly got slapped with a lawsuit from a local deputy. He made a strong allegation against Kelly for having an affair with his wife.
Kenny Bryant, a Hinds County deputy, originally filed the suit against the “Ignition” singer on April 21. Three days later, a summons was filed that required Kelly to present a response to the complaint
According to the lawsuit, Bryant claimed that prior to their wedding on July 15, 2012, R.Kelly, real name Robert, began an secret, romantic relationship with his wife, Asia Childress. Even though Childress claimed that their relationship had ended, Bryan claims that it has rekindled when she attended one of his concerts in in October of that year.
Bryant boldly claims that he and Childress did not have sexual relations between Oct. 2012 and Feb. 2013 because she was treated for Chlamydia. He claims that she caught it from Kelly during their alleged affair.
The lawsuit also states that Childress allegedly convinced Bryant to move to Atlanta in hope of furthering her career, causing him to quit his “good job”. As result of moving, he claims he was unable to “find profitable work” and, in addition to her allegedly desiring a lavish lifestyle that was beyond her means, he was financially ruined.
Bryant also claimed that his wife would disappear whenever the “Bump & Grind” singer had a concert in a close state.
“Each time R. Kelly would have a concert in a nearby state, Childress would disappear to unite with her lover,” the lawsuit said. “Time after time, R. Kelly cuckolded Bryant, with blatant disregard for Bryant’s and Childress’ vows.”
After many attempts to keep their marriage together as Bryant claims, he “could not prevail against R. Kelly’s continued sexual overtures to Childress.”
The deputy has since filed for a divorce from Childress to let his wife continue her alleged relationship.

George Clinton Says Trump Needs Funk In His Life

RadioOnFire.com - CNN caught up with funk legend George Clinton during a recent show at BB King Blues Club in New York City, and picked his brain about everything from his legacy with Parliament and Funkadelic, to his take on Donald Trump's presidency.

The 75-year-old "godfather of funk" recalled the impact P-Funk made on the world but was sure to avoid pivoting from a time capsule, as he spoke in the present, saying, "We're here. We ain't going nowhere. We are a movement," in spite of the group's half a century long history in the music business. It is an assertion that Parliament fans can expound upon, beyond the fact that the band continues to perform in its present incarnation. True fans of hip-hop would concur, in having heard samples from Clinton's past woven into some of the genre's most prolific songs, whether they knew what they were listening to at the moment or not.

It is in bringing the party together, regardless of culture or creed that Clinton's music is often cited for, and he touched on how they bore the intention to convey that message with the classic "One Nation," saying, "That's the holy grail of the funk. It's ... our anthem and that binding force." And it is Clinton's absolute faith that the music actually facilitates unity, that prompts him to direct anyone searching for answers right back to the funk, as was the case when the CNN reporter inquired about whether he had any thoughts on Donald Trump's first 100 days in office.

"Ain't no funk in the Trump," said Clinton. "You can't be that against everything and everybody and be funky -- that's hard to do. He needs to go to a good funk concert a few times. He'd probably change his mind about a lot of things. I'm going to send him a copy of 'One Nation Under a Groove' -- maybe that'll help."

Trump Tax Reform Plan Would Cut Rates, Deductions

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump proposed dramatic cuts in corporate and personal taxes Wednesday in an overhaul his administration asserts will spur national economic growth and bring jobs and prosperity to America's middle class. But his ambitious plan is alarming lawmakers who worry it will balloon federal deficits.
The plan would reduce investment and estate taxes, helping the wealthy. But administration officials said several other tax breaks that help well-to-do taxpayers would be eliminated and the plan would largely help the middle class.
The White House has yet to spell out how much of a hole the tax cuts could create in the federal budget, maintaining that the resulting economic growth would eliminate the risk of a soaring government deficit— if not actually cause the red ink to diminish.
The outlined changes to the tax code are the most concrete guidance so far on Trump's vision for spurring job growth and fulfilling his promise to help workers who have been left behind by an increasingly globalized economy.
"He understands that there are a lot people who work hard and feel like they're not getting ahead," said Gary Cohn, director of the White House National Economic Council. "I would never, ever bet against this president. He will get this done for the American people."
Specialists on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange watch Gary Cohn, director of the White House National Economic Council, discuss President Donald Trump's tax plan.
Still, the proposal leaves a series of open questions that could affect its impact on taxpayers and the economy.
The administration wants to reduce the number of tax brackets to three from seven, but it has yet to determine the income levels for people who would be put in each bracket. It also has yet to spell out how the plan would stop wealthier Americans from exploiting a lower corporate tax rate to reduce how much they pay. And the White House has downplayed the threat that the tax cuts could cause the deficit to surge, possibly eroding support for the plan among lawmakers in Trump's own Republican Party.
Cohn said Trump and his administration recognize they have to be "good stewards" of the federal budget. But the plan as it currently stands could cause the federal deficit to climb, unless it sparks a massive and lasting wave of growth that most economists say is unlikely.

Man Indicted In 2014 Death Of 3-Year-Old McKenzie Elliott

RadioOnFire.com - Gunfire claimed the life of 3-year-old McKenzie Elliott on August 1, 2014. Two years and almost nine months later, a person has been indicted for her killing.
In a press conference on Wednesday morning, outgoing U.S. Attorney Rod Rosenstein, along with Baltimore police Commissioner Kevin Davis and ATF Special Agent Daniel Board Jr., announced that 28-year-old Terrell Plummer has been charged with murder.

"Exceptional police officers and prosecutors worked tirelessly and creatively to catch the killer and dismantle his gang because they care about saving lives," Rosenstein said. "The indictment alleges that an armed drug dealer killed McKenzie Elliott, which is no surprise because most murders in Baltimore are committed by armed drug dealers who belong in prison."
Gunfire was exchanged that Friday in August between people in a car and others outside in the 3600 block of Old York Road. Plummer, who is one of seven members of the Old York Money Gang, fired shots that missed his target and struck Elliott.
The young victim was playing outside on the porch of her family's home prior to being shot and killed.
Police said Elliott was one of three people shot.
Plummer and the other six men are indicted on federal drug conspiracy charges. They include conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute controlled substances.
The others indicted in this case are Davonte Rich 22, Trevon Beasley, 23, Tyrone Jamison, 23, Davin Lawson, 25, Calvin Watson, 26 and Tyron Brown, 26. Rosenstein said Brown is still on the loose.

Ted Cruz Proposes that El Chapo Pay For Trump's Mexican Border Wall

RadioOnFire.com - Following a drawn out battle over the inclusion of his proposed spending for a wall he had originally declared the American tax payer wouldn't fund, President Donald Trump has hinted at a willingness to postpone the project so as to get congressional budget negotiations moving along. But a couple of his allies in government have been brainstorming ways to supplement federal funding for the barrier, with Texas senator Ted Cruz being the latest. Cruz has announced that he will push for legislation that will enable the government to extract funds from criminals deemed to have built their wealth illegally, and he wants to start with El Chapo.
The Ensuring Lawful Collection of Hidden Assets to Provide Order Act has been dubbed the El CHAPO Act, for its endeavor to revoke some $14 billion from the Mexican drug lord, in an effort to relieve the U.S. from having to raise the money, for a border wall. Although it is arguable that $14 billion wouldn't fully cover expenses for the wall's construction, it could certainly take some of the pressure that rests on the President to deliver on his promises. While Trump ally and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has said that the wall could be built for $15 billion, an internal Homeland Security report estimates the cost will run up closer to the $21.6 billion mark.
“Fourteen billion dollars will go a long way toward building a wall that will keep Americans safe and hinder the illegal flow of drugs, weapons, and individuals across our southern border,” Cruz said in a statement he made in regards to the bill. Cruz says that passing such legislation would enable the government to apply the same act to future kingpins, while advancing national interests that the nation just cannot afford.
El Chapo Joaquin Guzman's lawyers Michael Schneider and Michelle Gelernt responded to news of Cruz's proposal by challenging the notion that the former Sinaloa Cartel boss has that kind of money. "The government is seeking forfeiture of 14 billion dollars but has yet to demonstrate that Mr. Guzman has any assets at all," Schneider said.

Derek Jeter Partners Up with Jeb Bush to Buy Miami Marlins in $1.3 Billion Deal

RadioOnFire.com - A group of investors that includes former Florida Governor Jeb Bush and New York Yankees great, Derek Jeter, have reportedly reached an agreement to buy the Miami Marlins club. According to Bloomberg and the Miami Herald, current owner Jeffrey Loria will receive $1.3 billion for the National League baseball organization, which makes for a pretty decent flip, considering he only paid $158 million for the Miami upstart in 2002.
For Jeter's part, the move is a dream come true. He has long expressed a yearning to get into the business, saying during a Turn 2 Foundation event back in December that he had "made it very clear of ownership aspirations at some point." The retired Yankee would add, "Who knows when that is, who knows if you get the opportunity. I hope I do." While that opportunity has finally arrived and Jeter and company have capitalized on it, the sale must still go through an approval process the league puts prospective owners through, in which 75% of the 30 Major League Baseball franchises agree to allow the transaction.
Jeter has been on his grind since completing his 20-year career at shortstop in the Bronx. He started up the Players Tribune website that puts out some of the most exclusive athlete interviews in all of media and has his own publishing imprint with Simon & Schuster to boot. Over the course of his career he was able to amass a $265 million fortune through endorsements with Nike, Gatorade and Ford, on top of the salary he earned playing ball.
For Jeb, the purchase brings him to join brother, and former U.S. President George W. Bush, among the Bush family's baseball moguls. Fans will recall W's ownership of the Texas Rangers for a nine-year span, between 1989 and 1998.

RadioOnFire.coom - Jay Z and Beyonce placed a bid at $120 million for a bulletproof mansion in Bel Air, California.
The power couple, expecting twins this summer, hopes to secure this 30,000 square-foot mansion which sits over 2 acres of land at the top of a hill. Aside from the immense size, the house also stands out for its extreme security features including bulletproof windows. They’ve been chasing after the home for years, according to AllHipHop. It has eight bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, recording studios and a 15-car garage. The $120 million offer is less than the house is listed for. It is currently being shopped around off-market for $135 million, according to observer.com. There are no other highly publicized offers for the house at this time. The home was designed by famed architect Paul McClean.
Jay and Beyonce started renting a house in the same area for $150,000 per month in May of last year. The couple reportedly started out their time in the home living in separate bedrooms after continuous blowout fights, according to Radar Online. The report also states that Beyonce was not a fan of spending all that money on the home if she was going to be on tour. Jay Z planned on staying until the end of their contract, but the singer demanded he accompany her on the Formation Tour which took place last summer. Beyonce and Jay Z have one daughter Blue Ivy and are expecting twins this summer. The singer made the baby announcement back in February. Multiple sources claimed the couple had been trying to conceive for a few years. The baby rollout included a pregnancy photo shoot with the singer posing close to nude. Aside from building a family, Jay and Beyonce also have a collaboration titled “Shining” on DJ Khaled’s upcoming “Grateful” album.

Man Kills Infant Daughter on Facebook Live, Then Kills Himself

RadioOnFire.com - Recently, a 75-year-old man was killed for no reason via Facebook Live, and now a man in Thailand has killed his 11-month-old daughter and himself via the platform's live feature. According to the police, the bodies of Wuttisan Wongtalay and his child were found in an abandoned hotel in Phuket after news broke of the horrific video. The Facebook Live broadcast was made on Monday, and video from the broadcast was not taken down until Tuesday afternoon. Police Colonel Jirasek Siemsak said "He felt neglected by his wife because they had been fighting, so he took his 11-month-old daughter to the site of the crime which is the abandoned hotel," Jirasak said. "Then we found the bodies hanging off the hotel." Police have not questioned the widow of Wongtalay, because the woman is currently grieving the loss of her child and husband. Jirasek gave thoughts on the mother's loss, saying "The mother of the child was crying and was very sad. I am also very sad. It is a personal dispute, and they were still very young."
This unfortunate broadcast took place after Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg issued a statement last week saying that his company had "a lot of work" to do in terms of addressing the Facebook Live problem. Last year, a Chicago man was shot in his neighborhood while broadcasting on Facebook Live.

Aaron Hernandez's Body Tested Positive for Synthetic Marijuana During Autopsy

RadioOnFire.com - News broke last week of former NFL player Aaron Hernandez committing suicide in prison. Hernandez allegedly left a note to his family and his alleged lover located in the same prison. Now, reports have surfaced saying inmates from the prison that Hernandez may have been high on a synthetic marijuana. According to an autopsy, Hernandez tested positive for a synthetic form of marijuana called K2. Reports noted that traces of K2 showed up during a kidney fluid screening. Because of this discovery, the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center was raided by the state police and placed on lockdown as state troopers and Tactical Teams searched for any type of contraband. This also included paper soaked with K2 according to Newsweek.
Aaron Hernandez's death is still under investigation, allegedly pulling Internal Affairs into the mix. Because of this, sources believe a larger investigation into the prison is taking place. Anonymous sources in the Department of Correction told Newsweek that it is unusual to go through with an SBCC prison search. They also said that since Department of Corrections Internal Affairs is present, this is an indication of a full-blown investigation set to take place. One correction officer was recently "detached with pay" after he was accused of not being present for a surveillance round at 2 a.m., one hour before Hernandez took his own life.
