Teen Killed After Girl Sneaks Him in Her House, Dad Mistakes Him for Burglar

RadioOnFire.com - Sadly, over the weekend, a 17-year-old in Georgia named Jordan Middleton was killed by a man whose 14-year-old daughter had let him in the house. The man mistakenly shot the teenager because he thought he was a burglar.
Deputies at the Columbia County Sheriff's Office reportedly found Middleton dead at about 2:50 a.m. after being alerted of a burglary in progress. By the time the police arrived, Middleton was found by the front door of the home with a gunshot wound to the chest.
The 14-year-old's father told police that he heard some sounds from his downstairs in his home. From there, he armed himself and went to see what was causing the sound. He then told police that he heard and saw the family's dog barking at the guest bedroom. The man went to the room and asked that the intruder reveal themselves. He then gave another warning which was met with silence, so he went into the room. As soon as spotted Middleton running out of the closet in the room, he shot him once in the chest because he thought the young man was a robber.
At this time, no charges have been filed against the homeowner as the investigation into the shooting continues.

People's Court Judge Joseph Wapner Dead at 97

RadioOnFire.com - Joseph Wapner, the retired judge who changed television as the judge on "The Peopele's Court," has died. Wapner became an instant hit when the show debuted in September 1981. "The People's Court" was the first TV reality show, and it has since opened the door for many more, including several TV court shows.
Wapner was opinionated, passionate and irascible as he heard thousands of cases during his 12-year run. The show became a touchpoint for pop culture. It was parodied on "Saturday Night Live" and many other shows. Dustin Hoffman's "3 minutes to Wapner" in "Rain Man" became an iconic expression.
Wapner was hospitalized last week with breathing problems. His condition worsened to the point he was taken to his West L.A. home Friday under hospice care. Wapner died Sunday morning, he was 97-year-old. Wapner was married to wife Mickey for 70 years and had 3 kids.

Chicago's Deadliest Week in 2017 Ends, 81 Busted In Overnight Gun Raids

RadioOnFire.com - The Chicago Police Department took down 81 people identified over a three week planning period, to be instrumental in the prevalence of crime in the South and West Side sections of the city, on Thursday and Friday nights, [February 23-24].
The consecutive overnight raids were responsible for netting 61 convicted felons, 49 of whom are said to be gang members. Of the total number of people apprehended, 65 are said to have been targeted as higher risks due to their history as victims or purveyors of gun violence. For most of those arrested, it wasn't their first go around with the law. "There are repeat gun offenders that one, don't care they're on parole, two, and don't care about the fact they're already previously convicted felons," Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson told members of the media at a press conference announcing the bust. "They're not new to us. But the simple fact is we need the judicial system and our legislators to help us with this."
The sweeps were conducted as a part of an initiative to intensify law enforcement, following President Donald Trump's call for local officials to curb Chicago's exorbitant violence before he selects to dispense federal authorities to the city. Trump recently doubled down on his call for officials to tackle the problem, stating in a news conference last week that Chicago suffers a tale of two cities, one that is "incredible, luxurious and safe" and another that he likened to the Middle East. The statement was consistent with past remarks that have been criticized as dangerous by opponents of the militarization of police.
This week's raids resulted in police seizing 12 firearms, including a machine gun. Another raid, this time backed by federal agents, is said to be planned for the coming weeks.

Baltimoreans Call For Mayor Pugh To Close School Budget Gap After Teachers Hold Sick-Out

RadioOnFire.com - Teachers at one east Baltimore school held a sick-out to express concerns over the system's budget issues and possible layoffs.
The school system sent contractual teachers and other school and district staff to instruct 60 of the estimated students who remained at Tench Tilghman Elementary/Middle School after most of them were picked up not long after classes began.
School officials say "appropriate action" will be taken against staffers determined to have used leave times in ways other than district policy permits.
"I am extremely disappointed that staff members may have chosen to express their anxiety about school budgets by disrupting teaching and learning for our students and compromising students' access to the services and supports we provide in a safe, positive school environment," schools CEO Sonja Brookins Santelises said in a statement. "I encourage all City Schools staff members and the entire City Schools community to seek out ways to advocate for our students that are not at the same time detrimental to the very young."
Later that night, parents, teachers, students and community leaders packed the atrium of Open Works in Greenmount to deliver a clear message to Mayor Catherine Pugh to commit at least $50 million to close the projected $130 million budget gap facing city schools.
Kimberly Coleman, a member of BEE's leadership team and City Schools Spanish teacher, spoke of Mayor Pugh's campaign promise to increase the city contribution to City Schools from 20 percent to 35 percent over four years, an increase of roughly $200 million. Coleman expressed how a budget reflects a city's values and our values tell us to put our students first.
"We need to send a message to our mayor that it is not only just, but an economic imperative to commit to educating Baltimore's children and future work force. We need to leave Mayor Pugh without any doubt that Baltimore refuses to leave our kids behind," Coleman said.
Taylor Owens, a sophomore at the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, spoke of how her teachers show up and support her through challenging experiences. Mayor Pugh needs to step up during this challenging time to increase the city's contribution today, Owens said.
"Madam Mayor: we need you to accept this challenge in these life or death times for students and be a hero, " Owens said. "Without our teachers there is no emotional or academic support and without the teacher and the student, there is no education system, and without a working education system for students, then crime, unemployment and injustice will continue to increase."
Baltimore City Schools CEO Dr. Sonja Santelises spoke of how it was heartening to see mobilization around making sure BCPSS young people are funded and how this is a question of priorities. "We as a community have to be able to say that our school, our young people, our future are worthy enough of the investment," Santelises said.
After hearing testimony from students, teachers, parents, and administrators, community members wrote letters to Mayor Pugh and signed up for upcoming actions to ensure that the City and State close the budget gap.

Poll Shows Low Approval Rating For Trump, Congress In Maryland

RadioOnFire.com - After one month in office, a new poll finds 64-percent of Marylanders disapprove of the way President Donald Trump is doing his job.
The Goucher College Poll finds only 29-percent of Marylanders approve of the way Trump is doing his job.
Goucher Poll director Mileah Kromer says in a state where Democratic voters outnumber Republican voters by a 2-to-1 margin the results for Trump are not surprising.
In November, Trump lost in Maryland to Hillary Clinton by 25-percent.

Among registered Democrats, 88-percent disapprove of the way Trump is doing his job, while seven percent approve of Trump's job performance.
Among registered Republicans, 71-percent approve of Trump's job performance, while only 22-percent disapprove.
Among independent voters, 56-percent disapprove of Trump, while 29-percent approve.
Kromer says the poll shows that Trump appeals to his Republican base, and not many others in Maryland.

The poll surveyed 776 adults in Maryland who were contacted either by landline or cell phone over a four day period ending Tuesday, February 21.
The poll has a margin of error of plus-or-minus 3.5-percent.
The poll finds more than a third of those surveyed don't know whether they approve of disapprove of the job Maryland's two U.S. Senators are doing.
For freshman Democrat Chris Van Hollen, 36-percent don't know whether they approve or disapprove of the job he is doing, 44-percent approve, and 19-percent disapprove.
For Democrat Ben Cardin, who is up for re-election next year, 34-percent don't know whether they approve or disapprove of the job he is doing while 45-percent approve, and 21-percent disapprove.
Kromer says that the good news for Cardin is "he is above water" in his approval rating as he faces re-election. Kromer says as the ranking Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Cardin is raising his national profile going into an election year. He has been a vocal critic of President Trump appearing on cable networks and broadcast network television shows.
Cardin, Van Hollen and President Trump do have higher approval ratings in the poll than Congress.
The poll finds only 21-percent approve of the job Congress is doing while 72-percent disapprove.
This is the first of two parts of Goucher College Poll.
The second part of the poll which includes new approval numbers for Governor Larry Hogan will be released on Monday, February 27.

Family Matters Actor Accused of Holding Infant Daughter Over Boiling Water

RadioOnFire.com - Darius McCrary, also known as Eddie Winslow on the '90s sitcom "Family Matters," has been accused of various shocking forms of abusive behavior, according to court documents filed by his wife, Tammy Brawner.
In the court docs, filed Feb. 15 in Los Angeles Superior Court, Brawner said that McCrary has hit her, and "frequently throws things and breaks things in the house." McCrary is reported as "violent, destructive and unstable emotionally. He has a violent history." Brawner also claimed that the actor "uses drugs and drinks heavily on a regular basis."
Brawner received a temporary restraining order against McCary, who has been ordered to leave the couple's Canoga Park, Calif. home.
In addition to throwing a cell phone at Brawner when she was eight months pregnant, McCary has allegedly restrained Brawner and their daughter Zoey when they attempted to leave. Zoey, who was born in September 2015, was allegedly spanked frequently by McCrary, and during one incident he "held her over a hot stove with fire going and boiling water going." He said to her that "he didn't like her ... and that he wish[ed] he didn't have her." The latter incident occurred when Zoey was "no more than eight or nine months" old, according to Brawner.
Brawner also notes that she's filing for divorce from McCary in the court papers.

Woman Charged with Falsely Accusing Two Football Players of Rape

RadioOnFire.com - Last year, two football players on scholarship at Sacred Heart University in Connecticut were suspended from their team and lost their scholarships because a young woman falsely accused them of raping her.
Now, according to police, the two young men have been cleared of all charges after the young woman took back her story. Dylann Roof Went To Another Black Church After Charleston Shooting

RadioOnFire.com - Dylann Roof, the man responsible for the bible study massacre church shooting in Charleston, South Carolina allegedly visited another church after the initial shooting.
According to newly unsealed documents in the shooter's case, there was GPS data not presented in his trial showing that after he murdered nine people at the Emanuel AME Church, he made his way over to the Branch AME Church, and then shut off his GPS for a few minutes. Because of this, prosecutors are making the argument that Roof had intentions of attacking again. After being arrested, Roof told the FBI that he was too tired to continue shooting after the Emanuel Bible Study massacre.
Since then, Roof has been convicted of 33 federal hate crimes, resulting in him receiving a death sentence.

Milo Yiannopoulos Loses $250K Book Deal After Advocating Gay Pedophilia

RadioOnFire.com - Alt-Right agitator Milo Yiannopoulos paid a heavy price for statements he made in defense of pedophilia, that even his own sponsors felt he took too far on Monday, February, 20.
There is report that Breitbart is considering handing their editor the pink slip in the face of all the backlash he has faced, since a segment from his recent interview with The Drunken Peasants podcast leaked to reveal his position that “Pedophilia is not a sexual attraction to somebody 13 years old who is sexually mature," but rather, an "attraction to children who have not reached puberty."

Should the far right publication release Yiannopoulos it would almost certainly signify a sudden downfall at the height of his rising popularity. Only one month ago Yiannopoulos became an ironic symbol of free speech when a scheduled talk at the University of California was cancelled due to violent protests on the Berkeley campus. Over the past year Yiannopoulos has sparked numerous instances of public outrage, and faced cancellations by college campus' and social media bans for statements deemed offensive to women, transgender people, minorities and other historically oppressed groups. But at no point have his own supporters turned on him until the Drunken Peasants podcast leak.
While defending remarks he made about men and boys engaging in sexual relationships last year, Yiannopoulos doubled down by validating "some of those relationships between younger boys and older men, the sort of coming of age relationships." He admitted to himself having experienced dating grown men before he was of legal age, and contended that he believes himself to have been the pursuer. He then defended a scenario wherein a man in his late 20's or early 30's might oblige passes made by a 13-year-old, characterizing such engagements as "relationships in which those older men have helped those young boys to discover who they are and give them security and safety and provide them with love . . . and sort of a rock where they can’t speak to their parents.”
By Monday evening publisher Simon & Schuster had cancelled his forthcoming book "Dangerous," over the remarks. His highly anticipated appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference, which is expected to be attended by President Trump, was also nixed, with American Conservative Union president Matt Schlapp stating, "We continue to believe that CPAC is a constructive forum for controversies and disagreements among conservatives, however, there is no disagreement among our attendees on the evils of sexual abuse of children."

Historians Rank Obama as the 12th Greatest President

RadioOnFire.com - The results of a survey compiling the input of 91 presidential historians, places Barack Obama as the 12th greatest U.S. President, C-SPAN reports.
Obama took office as the nation's 44th President in 2009. At 47-years-old he was the 5th youngest man to ever become Commander-In-Chief, and although his experience in government was not as expansive as many who had held the job before him, his strong conviction, communication and organizing skills helped him lead through two terms in Washington. No President has been as highly recognized by C-SPAN's panel of historians as Obama has since Ronald Reagan, who is slotted at number 9 in the new survey.
Among the attributes Obama scored highly for were his pursuit of equality, management of the economy, public persuasion and moral authority. “That Obama came in at number 12 his first time out is quite impressive," said survey shepherd Douglas Brinkley of Rice University.
Coming in at #1 is Abraham Lincoln, who regularly tops the list. He is recognized of course for abolishing slavery, ordering the building of the Transcontinental Railroad, and saving the Union after the Civil War. The Presidents universally regarded among historians as the "big three" remains unchanged, with George Washington following Lincoln, and FDR coming in at third. Founding Father Thomas Jefferson makes the top 10, but was beat out by Theodore Roosevelt (4), Dwight Eisenhower (5) and Harry Truman (6), having been placed as the 7th greatest President. The top 10 rounds out with JFK (8) coming between Jefferson and Reagan, and Lyndon B. Johnson being named the 10th greatest.

Man Beaten For $70,000 after Flashing Money On Facebook

RadioOnFire.com - A Bronx man who has been doing well for himself selling handbags learned the repercussions of flaunting money on social media when he was assaulted and robbed during a home invasion that is believed to have been triggered by someone who got whim of his success.
The victim was home at his Pugsley Avenue residence at around noon time on Thursday, February 16, when three men entered through an unlocked back door. Two of the men were armed, but it was the third suspect, who grabbed a frying pan from the 20-year-old man's kitchen, who did the most damage. The victim was said to have been knocked unconscious and lost teeth after being repeatedly struck with the cooking instrument. They then tied him up with an electrical chord.
"Where's the money," the suspects were reported having insisted. "Tell us cause we're not leaving without it." After one of the men threatened to torture the bound victim with a hot clothing iron he directed them to a compartment in the refrigerator. The men got away with $70,000 in cash, he told authorities.
The victim would later be treated and released from a local hospital. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

Trump Lists NY Times, NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN News as Enemy of the People

RadioOnFire.com
- Donald Trump continued his war with the media on Friday, February 17, taking to Twitter as he has become known for doing, to discredit some of the biggest networks in television for their reporting, and declare them America's enemy.

"The FAKE NEWS media is not my enemy ... it is the enemy of the American People," he tweeted. Trump's message wasn't a mere dismissal of the general field of obscure websites and publications presenting baseless reporting. He tagged five major news networks in the tweet, adding NBC News, ABC and CBS to past foe New York Times, and current perceived rival CNN.

President Trump's focus on media "attacks" has increasingly presented itself as a strategy he has figured to use in the likeness of the rogue presidential candidate Trump. Characterized by many as a populist for his having exploited the Tea Party rhetoric he helped construct with years of Obama birther claims, Trump's willingness to call the media out before cynical supporters was one of the strengths of his campaign. Nearly one month into office, it appears that he has no intention to let up. With former Breitbart editor Steve Bannon by his side, Trump is turning questions of his controversial executive orders and Russian scandal, back on news agencies, daily, with accusations of a media conspiracy to take him out of office.

SC Man Arrested for Planning Attack "In the Spirit of Dylann Roof"

RadioOnFire.com - FBI arrested a South Carolina man for planning an attack "in the spirit of Dylann Roof," according to court documents. 29-year-old Benjamin Thomas Samuel McDowell was arrested and is facing a federal count of felon in possession of a firearm or ammunition.
McDowell told an undercover operative that he wanted to do something on a "big scale" and dedicate it to Roof by writing his name on the wall of the building he chose to commit the crime at. He was quoted as saying, "I'm wanting to do this s***, and I got the heart to do this. I seen what Dylann Roof did and in my heart I reckon I got a little bit of hatred and I...I want to do that s----. Like, I got desire ... not for nobody else .. .it just... I want something where I can say, 'I f***ing did that' ... me personally."
The 29-year-old also posted his thoughts to Facebook, writing, "I wish the day we all get off Facebook and white Warriors like we was born to be like Dylan roof but we gotta do it in a smart away and it takes a team..." He also spoke to an undercover operative later that day on the phone, telling him that he wanted a .40-caliber pistol.
After handing over $109 to the operative for the .40-caliber Glock that had been disabled without his knowledge, FBI swooped in and arrested McDowell with the gun in his possession.

Trump Tells Black Reporter to Set Up Meeting with Black Lawmakers

RadioOnFire.com - Donald Trump held a press conference on Thursday (February 16), where he asked journalist April Ryan, who is black, to set up a meeting with the Congressional Black Caucus. Ryan initially asked Trump if he is going to include the CBC while attempting to clean up inner cities.
Trump shot back at Ryan by interrupting and asking her, “Well I would. I’d tell you what -- do you want to set up the meeting? Do you want to set up the meeting? Are they friends of yours?”
Ryan then told Trump, “No, no, no, I’m just a reporter...I know some of them but --” She was then interrupted again by the President, who said, “No, get us -- set up the meeting. Let’s go, set up the meeting, I would love to meet with the black caucus - the Congressional Black Caucus.”

Tennessee Man Who Plotted Mosque Attack Won't Face Terrorist Charges

RadioOnFire.com - A jury has begun deliberations to determine the fate of a Tennessee man facing charges in connection with an attack he is alleged to have plotted against a community of citizens in upstate New York; only none of the counts against him pose to convict him of terrorism.
Robert Doggart, 65, was arrested in April of 2015, when investigators who had been following an online trail of evidence which pointed to him having recruited people to back his assault on a mosque, closed in on him before he pulled it off. Doggart had reportedly frequented online forums known for attracting right-wing extremists and hyped up opposition to a town near Hancock referred to as "Islamberg," which he accused of being a radical Islamic terrorist training ground.
Doggart, who went from running for Congress in 2014 to awaiting his conviction while on house arrest, is now looking at prison time for solicitation to commit arson, solicitation to commit a civil rights violation and posing a threat in interstate commerce. Attorneys representing the prosecution are slamming the criminal justice system for making it difficult to bring such criminals as Doggart to trial on the same charges foreign terror threats typically face.
"There's a gap in the law," attorney Tahirah Amatul-Wadud is reported as telling the Daily News. "Frankly, there is nothing on terrorism unless it's connected to a foreign element. You won't see the KKK charged with domestic terror even though that's what they do." Amatul-Wadud points to the Patriot Act of 2001 in befuddlement as to how Doggart could escape any terrorist related charges. According to the act, the law determines anyone against whom there's been a proven intention to "intimidate" or "coerce" a civilian population through the use of "mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping," to have acted on the grounds of terrorism.
"He did it to intimidate Muslims throughout the country — a civilian population — and acted as if he was going to be the world police, which is very anti-government," Amatul-Wadud said.

Legal Analyst Says OJ Simpson May Be Released from Prison This Summer

RadioOnFire.com - A reputed legal analyst from Sports Illustrated and a University of New Hampshire law professor have both reported that they are confident O.J. Simpson will soon see the light of day, projecting that he will be released from prison come summer time.
"He's the kind of person who gets paroled. He has done a significant amount of time and, by all accounts, hasn't caused any problems [while in prison]," says Vegas criminal defense attorney Daniel Hill, who agrees with assessments made by SI's Michael McCann and U of NH professor Jon Wertheim.
Simpson, 70, has been serving time at Nevada's Lovelock Correctional Center since 2008, when he was convicted of a burglary which involved him attempting to take some of his playing days memorabilia from the Palace Station Hotel-Casino the year prior. The Hall of Fame NFL running back would be found guilty on 12 counts of charges ranging from conspiracy, to burglary and robbery, to kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon. The crime would land him a 33 year sentence.
Should Simpson earn an early release, he'd no doubt have to comply with a set of conditions that includes regular meetings with a parole officer, regular searches of his home and vehicles, and the need to acquire permission to leave his home state.
Simpson's release is dependent upon him proving that he would be a low-risk threat to society. Such a determination is made following a comprehensive review which weighs his performance in 11 concrete areas, including disciplinary write-ups, history of drug or alcohol abuse, and prior probation or parole revocation.

Administrators at the private Friends School in north Baltimore have been aware of the allegations for almost two months and are cooperating in the investigation.

Fashion Editors Claim No One Wanted to Sit Next to Tiffany Trump at NYFW

RadioOnFire.com - With the end of New York Fashion Week near, journalists have kept a watchful eye out for what kind of sensational moments will capture the media's attention leading up to it's conclusion. One notable development that drew the curiosity of many on hand, was the appearance of the President's youngest daughter, Tiffany Trump, and how lackluster it appeared to be. That's because according to a few fashion editors who took to Twitter following her sighting on Monday, February 13, she didn't seem to attract any big acquaintances. In fact, they claim, there was a bit of trouble getting folks to fill the seats that remained empty beside her for some time.

"Seating s---show at Philipp Plein because no editors want to sit near Tiffany Trump," tweeted editor-in-chief of Fashionista.com. "SHOCKER." Senior fashion editor at Elle, Nikki Ogunnaike took credit for ditching the 23-year-old Trump's side, confirming that they indeed relocated so as to avoid any association. Former Wall Street Journal columnist Christina Binkley added her observation in the caption of a photo of Trump settled by the abandoned seats, writing "Nobody wants to sit next to Tiffany Trump at Philipp Plein, so they moved and the seats by her are empty."

Tiffany Trump sightings have been rare throughout the course of Trump's run for office and subsequent Presidency. She has only appeared by her father's side on select occasions, as sons Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, and daughter Ivanka Trump prove to be intimately involved in his day to day operations. Even 10-year-old Barron Trump has appeared to get more air time than his older sister, who is the only child Trump had with ex-wife Marla Maples.
