Rachel Dolezal Pens Memoir 'In Full Color' About Trans-Racial Life

RadioOnFire.com - thrust back into the spotlight after she took to Instagram to announce her new memoir, In Full Color: Finding my Place in a Black and White World.
The bio for the book reads in part:
With In Full Color, Rachael Doležal describes the path that led her from being a child of white evangelical parents to an NAACP chapter president and respected educator and activist who identified as black. Along the way, she’ll discuss the deep emotional bond she formed with her four adopted black siblings, the sense of belonging she felt while living in black communities in Jackson, Mississippi and Washington, D.C., and the discrimination she’s suffered while living as a black woman.
Her story is nuanced and complex, and in the process of telling it, she forces us to consider race in an entirely new light—not as a biological imperative, but as a function of the experiences we have, the culture we embrace, and, ultimately, the identity we choose.

The controversial book has already begun to create a firestorm on social media as critics are weary of Dolezal writing about discrimination "while living as a black woman" when she was born a white female.  Others have expressed disappointment in Dolezal getting a book deal writing on this subject matter while actual black authors struggle to get published.
For those that are interested, the book is available for preorder on Amazon.

More Than 400,000 Vote Early In Four Days

RadioOnFire.com - State elections officials say more than 400,000 people have voted in the first four days of early voting.
According to figures posted online by the Maryland State Board of Elections, 74,052 people voted on Sunday.
It brings the total number of people who have voted early to 400,235, over four days.
CLICK HERE to see the detailed turnout figures from the Maryalnd State Board of Elections.
The Maryland State Board of Elections reports 80,283 people voted on Saturday; 123,020 people voted on Friday; and 122,880 voted on Thursday.
The state is close to surpassing the total number of voters who cast ballots in the entire early voting period ahead of the 2012 General Election, the first presidential election where early voting was legal in Maryland.
In 2012, 430,573 people voted early in a five day early voting period.  The early voting period that year was supposed to be six days, but one day was cancelled due to Superstorm Sandy.
State election officials had expected turnout to be lighter during the weekend.
Some polling locations did report lines of voters, but no where near as long as the lines were on Thursday and Friday.
Early voting centers are open every day through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Unlike polling places on Election Day, officials say voters can register to vote and cast their ballot at any early voting center. Voters can also file an address change at an early voting center.
As of Saturday night, the Board of Elections reports 1,866 new voters have registered at an early voting center.
People must vote at a location in the jurisdiction where they live.

FBI Obtains Warrant Needed to Start Reviewing Emails Found on Laptop Used by Clinton Aide

(WASHINGTON) -- Federal investigators looking into the Hillary Clinton email matter have obtained the warrant needed to start reviewing the emails found on a laptop used by Clinton aide Huma Abedin and her husband, Anthony Weiner.

FBI Director James Comey told Congress Friday that the agency was again reviewing emails related to Clinton's personal server, after it learned of additional information that might be relevant to the case.

Comey sent a letter to key members of Congress informing them that although the FBI had previously announced the completion of its investigation into Clinton's email server, new information had prompted additional review.

"In connection with an unrelated case, the FBI has learned of the existence of emails that appear to be pertinent to the investigation," Comey wrote in a letter released Friday.

Female Trump Supporter Arrested for Voting Twice

RadioOnFire.com - The presidential voting process has begun in some states, with many states anticipating a large turnout for the number of voters. However, some voters were eager to make sure their selection for president goes through, especially one woman in Iowa who was arrested on suspicion of voting twice. 55-year-old Terri Rote was arrested and booked this past Thursday for first-degree election misconduct. According to police reports, the woman cast two ballots: one at a county satellite voting location, and another through an early voting ballot.

When asked for a statement by The Washington Post, Rote said it was a "spur-of-the-moment thing. I don't what came over me." Rote posted $5,000 bail on Friday and has a scheduled hearing for November 7. Under Iowa state law, first-degree election misconduct is a Class D felony.

Mike Pence's Plane Slides Off Runway At NYC's LaGuardia Airport

RadioOnFire.com - Republican vice presidential candidate Mike Pence's campaign plane slid off the runway during a rainstorm at New York's LaGuardia Airport Thursday, tearing up two tracks of concrete before coming to rest on a patch of grass.

Pence told reporters that no one had been injured.

"We can see mud on the front windows," a calm Pence said in the press cabin about a minute after the plane came to rest. He said he felt fine.

After a bumpy approach, the plane roughly landed and slammed into the ground, making first contact with the runway concrete. The pilot slammed on the brakes and passengers could smell burning rubber.

Passengers, including Pence, were evacuated through the back of the plane.

Campaign spokesman Marc Loetter told reporters that Pence had missed his fundraiser in New York City and was headed to his hotel for the night.

Kevin Gates Found Guilty Of Battery For Kicking Female Fan In The Chest. Sentenced To 6 Months In Florida Jail

RadioOnFire.com - A jury of six women found Kevin Gates guilty of battery Wednesday, October 26, in a Polk County, Florida courtroom.

He was sentenced to 180 days in the Polk County Jail, with credit for any time served, and fines and court costs, according to WFLA.

Gates, born Marcellus Kevin Gates, got upset when 18-year-old fan Miranda Dixon grabbed his pants during an August 2015 concert at Rumor’s Nite Club in Lakeland, Florida. The rapper responded by kicking Dixon in the chest hard enough for her to be admitted to the hospital, where she had to undergo a CT scan.

During a previous hearing Gates and his attorney, Jose Baez, admitted the rapper kicked Dixon, but attempted to have the charges dropped using the Stand Your Ground defense.

That argument fell on deaf ears. The jury found him guilty after deliberating less than two hours.

Officer Garrett Miller's Statement Offers Insight Into Freddie Gray's Arrest

RadioOnFire.com - Officer Garrett Miller was one of six Baltimore police officers charged in connection to the death of Freddie Gray.
Miller was one of three officers involved in the initial death of Gray, who died April 19, 2015, one week after sustaining injuries at some point after his arrest.
However, before Miller went on trial in July, Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby announced she was dropping all charges against him and the other remaining officers charged in the case.
This came after three officers were acquitted of all charges in separate bench trials while a fourth trial ended in a hung jury.
Now, 11 News has obtained the video statement Miller gave to police after Gray’s arrest.
Miller waived his right to remain silent and offered detectives a voluntary statement of what happened when police arrested Gray near Gilmor Homes in west Baltimore.
Miller does not say why Gray was chased, but added that he put his hands up. Miller added that Gray “gave up without a fight.”
“I handcuffed him, my handcuffs, pulled him over to, or stood him I should say, and took him over to where my bike was,” Miller said in his video recorded statement to police. “I was afraid somebody would steal my bike because that happens. When we had him there, he said, he was having trouble breathing, so we sat him up.
Miller went on to tell police that as the crowd formed Gray began flailing, kicking and screaming.
Miller said that Gray’s behavior got worse he said, when he was loaded into the police van head first. It was later that Miller got the call that Gray was injured.
When asked by investigators, Miller said he did not believe any officer involved with Gray’s arrest used excessive force.
Five of the six officers, including Miller, are now suing Mosby for bringing criminal charges in the first place.

President Obama: I Need You to Get "Cousin Pookie" Off the Couch & Go Vote

At a rally for Hillary Clinton in Nevada Sunday night, President Obama begged voters to make sure the fictitious “Cousin Pookie” gets off his couch on votes:

If this sounds familiar, it should. President Obama begged voters in 2014 to get lazy Pookie off the couch, but to no avail as Republicans cleaned up in the election:

Justice Department to Charge NYPD Cop in Death of Eric Garner

RadioOnFire.com - The death of Staten Island resident Eric Garner by the NYPD sparked many protests because of the brutal force exerted by the cops on a man proclaiming that he could not breathe. Along with numerous witnesses in the neighborhood being present while Eric Garner was being handled by the police, video footage of Garner being choked by the police surfaced. Despite the clear-cut footage that showed Garner's life being taken, no charges were filed against Daniel Pantaleo--the police officer who choked Garner to death.
Now, reports have surfaced that the Justice Department plan to actively pursue charges against Pantaleo. Previously, the Justice Department reportedly removed and replaced all the lawyers and FBI agents who were investigating Eric Garner's death. Officer Daniel Pantaleo is still receiving overtime pay despite being stripped of his gun and badge during the investigation.

Robbery Suspect Suing Police After Getting WWE Kick to the Face

RadioOnFire.com - Robbery suspect Hector Medina-Pena claims Allentown Officer Joseph M. Iannetta used excessive force when detaining him, kicking him in the head, giving him a broken jaw, and left him requiring three days of hospital treatment.  Medina-Pena is now suing Iannetta, his fellow officer Patrick Bull, the ex-police chief Joel Fitzgerald Jr, the Allentown mayor and the city.
In May 2015, according to a police report, staff at the Platinum Plus club called police around 6:30 p.m. to report that a man showed the cashier what appeared to be a gun in his waistband and said, "give me all the money or I'll kill you." The cashier handed over $1,594 and the man fled in an SUV with three other men.  Police pursued the vehicle and a bag with cash was thrown from a window.  According to the lawsuit, the SUV was stopped by police and Medina-Pena exited his vehicle.  He followed the instructions of Ianetta and went down on all fours in front of Iannetta's patrol car.

The suit states: 'Horrifically, while [Medina-Pena] was positioned on all fours, and defenseless, defendant Iannetta approached [Medina-Pena] with his gun drawn and performed what can only be described as a "WWE" style kick with his booted foot to [Medina-Pena's] right side of his head and face.'  Iannetta allegedly delivered a second blow to the back of Medina-Pena's head in full view of Bull, who had a duty to intervene in the alleged assault, the suit claims.
Medina-Pena's lawyer Joshua Karoly told the Morning Call: 'The video speaks louder than I ever could.'  Paramedics transported Medina-Pena to Sacred Heart Hospital, where doctors decided to transfer him to the trauma unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital for treatment of a broken jaw and three missing teeth, among other injuries, according to the lawsuit. The suit says Medina-Pena was not found to have weapons.  He did later plead guilty to robbery.  The suit also notes that  Iannetta was the subject of 14 investigations about abuse, in-custody injuries and use of force between 2006 and 2016, none of which resulted in discipline, and was the defendant in a 2013 federal civil rights lawsuit that the city settled last month for $350,000.
Allentown Police Chief Keith Morris said in a statement: 'Hector Medina-Pena repeatedly refused to comply with Officer Iannetta's commands throughout the course of the encounter, repeatedly reaching into the area of his waistband where he was wearing a fanny-pack.  Concerned about this suspect, who was reported by the victims to be armed, Officer Iannetta took action to protect himself, his fellow officers, and the public and take this later-convicted robber into custody by using the minimal amount of force necessary to overcome the threat.  Medina-Pena subsequently pled guilty to Robbery in Lehigh County Court and was sentenced to 4 ½ to 10 years in state prison.
'In today's society, where officers are routinely being criticized for their use of firearms in encounters with suspects, this is an incident where an officer (based on his training) used a reasonable amount of force in response to the report of an armed suspect and necessitated by Mr. Medina-Pena's criminal actions, and took a felon into custody with minimal risk and injury to all involved.'
Allentown City Solicitor Susan Wild said in a statement: 'Officer Iannetta is a 14 1/2 year veteran of the APD.  He has training far above and beyond the required training, is highly decorated for merit and bravery, and is himself an instructor and field training officer at the Police Academy and Commander of the Emergency Response Team.  The actions of Officer Iannetta have been thoroughly reviewed by command staff and the Solicitor's Office and found to be appropriate under the circumstances.  We look forward to the evidence in this case demonstrating that his actions were appropriate.'

7 People Injured in Oakland Shootout, Shooting Continued After Police Arrived

RadioOnFire.com - A chaotic shootout in East Oakland resulted in seven men being wounded late Saturday, according to police.  The shootout continued even after officers arrived on the scene and prompted SWAT team units to move door to door throughout the neighborhood in search of possible suspects, said Officer Johnna Watson, a spokeswoman for the Oakland police.
Patrol officers were first alerted by a bystander around 11:45 p.m. Saturday about gunfire at 77th and Bancroft avenues, said police.  It was a turbulent scene as police officers took cover behind squad cars after they had said someone fired shots at them. "It was crazy. I heard 15 to 20 shots," neighbor Kevin Lynn said.  According to Lynn, the first gunfire was coming from a house party on 78th Avenue.
Many other victims showed up at the hospital on their own accord, police said.  The condition of the seven victims—ranging in age from 27 to 45—was not immediately released, but one of the victims is reportedly in critical condition, and another has since been treated and discharged, according to a dispatcher.  No officers were wounded in the gunfire.
Police are investigating and are still searching for the shooting suspects.

AT&T Reaches Deal to Buy Time Warner for $85.4 Billion

RadioOnFire.comAT&T Inc. has reached an agreement to buy Time Warner Inc. for $85.4 billion in a deal that would transform the phone company into a media giant.

The wireless carrier agreed to pay $107.50 a share, evenly split between cash and stock. The companies said they expect the deal to close by the end of 2017.

AT&T Chief Executive Randall Stephenson would head the new company. The companies said Time Warner Chief Executive Jeff Bewkes would stay for an interim period following the close of the deal to help with the transition.

The combined business would pair the carrier’s millions of wireless and pay-television subscribers with Time Warner’s deep media lineup, which includes networks such as CNN, TNT, the prized HBO channel and Warner Bros. film and TV studio. It furthers AT&T’s bet that television and video can drive growth into a stalled wireless market.

“Premium content always wins. It has been true on the big screen, the TV screen and now it’s proving true on the mobile screen,” Mr. Stephenson, 56 years old, said in a release.

A major question is whether regulators will be willing to bless another major consolidation in the media industry especially after misgivings from a prior deal between Comcast Corp. and General Electric Co.’s NBCUniversal. At the very least, former regulatory officials say there could be significant conditions placed on the combination.

Police Shoot and Kill 66-Year-old Mentally Ill Woman Wielding a Bat

RadioOnFire.com - An elderly mentally ill woman wielding a baseball bat was shot and killed by police in her apartment this week.
The 66-year-old Bronx resident was trying to hit one of the officers who was summoned to scene to deal with what a 911 caller described as an “irrational woman,” according to the Gothamist. When police arrived at the woman’s apartment, she was naked and holding scissors. One of the officers convinced her to put the scissors down, but she decided to grab a baseball bat shortly after and tried to hit a sergeant on the scene. He retaliated by shooting the woman twice in the torso. The shooter was placed on modified duty after the incident which is now being investigated by the NYPD. The sergeant apparently had a taser on him which he decided not to use on the woman.
The victim, 66-year-old Deborah Danner struggled with schizophrenia and was recently taken out of her apartment building in a strait-jacket, according to one of her neighbors. State officials like Sen. Ruben Diaz believe killing the woman could have been avoided. He condemned the shooting in a recent statement. “To me, it is very difficult to understand how a woman who is [66] years old and has emotional problems should have to die like this, especially if there are four or five police officers in the room with her,” said Diaz.” This elderly woman was known to the police department, yet the officer involved in this shooting failed to use discretion to either talk her down from her episode or, barring that, to use his stun gun.”

I-Team Obtains Photo Of Freddie Gray's Knife

RadioOnFire.com - The 11 News I-Team has obtained photos of the knife that Freddie Gray was carrying on the day Baltimore City police arrested him.
The knife was brought up repeatedly during the trials of the officers charged in Gray's death, but until Monday, a picture was never released.
The knife is the documented reason why city police arrested Gray on April 12, 2015. Neither prosecutors nor the defense introduced it as evidence in the officers' trials.
The knife blade is 3 inches long. According to a product description, it is called an assist knife and is sometimes known as a rescue-style assist knife.
The knife's features include a seat-belt cutter and a glass breaker, and it comes with a clip. The 11 News I-Team contacted Baltimore City retailers and learned that it is sold in the city for as little as $4.
New documents obtained by the 11 News I-Team show that investigators waited as long as 16 days to search the locker of police van driver Officer Caesar Goodson and his home. They found a dusty uniform shirt in the locker; the shirt was dusty as if it had been in the locker for a very long time.
As part of their investigation, authorities gathered a box of paperwork at the Western District, but in their haste to leave the police station because of protesters coming, they accidentally left it behind.
The knife also plays a role in a civil lawsuit against Baltimore City State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby that was filed by five of the six officers charged in the Gray case. A federal judge who is still deciding whether the lawsuit will go forward said the knife overlaps two claims, one regarding the arrest warrant and the other concerning the defamation claim.

3 Men Arrested in Tyson Gay's 15-Year-Old Daughter's Shooting Death

RadioOnFire.com - Tyson Gay's 15-year old daughter Trinity was shot and killed early Sunday morning, and now three men have been charged in connection with her death.
The U.S. Olympic sprinter's daughter died after she was hit in the neck outside the Cook Out restaurant in Lexington, Kentucky around 4 a.m.  There was an exchange of gunfire between people in two parked vehicles.  Police spokeswoman Brenna Angel said police don't believe Trinity Gay was in either of the vehicles involved; she was, unfortunately, an innocent bystander.
D'Vonta Middlebrooks fired multiple shots during the incident, according to Lexington police investigators.  He was charged with wanton endangerment and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.  A father and son were also charged Sunday.  Chazerae Taylor, 38, and his 19-year-old son D'Markeo both face wanton endangerment counts for their participation in the incident.
Like her father, Trinity Gay was a standout sprinter, placing in the top five in several events at the state championships in May. Her father still holds the state record in the 100 set in 2001.
Tyson Gay said he and his daughter were very close, according to Lexington TV station WLEX, which spoke to him Sunday."It's so crazy. I have no idea what happened," Gay told the station.

Sheriff David Clarke Encourages Angry Americans to Riot

RadioOnFire.com - Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke took to social media to deride the government on Saturday [October 15], and he made it clear that he's done being all talk and no action. In a tweet that expressed discontent over the job the White House, Congress, the Department of Justice, and the media are doing, Clarke seemed to encourage supporters to go beyond words and take to the streets if they feel as angry as he does.
"It's incredible that our institutions of gov, WH, Congress, DOJ, and big media are corrupt & all we do is bitch," Clarke wrote, in the caption of a photo which depicts a crowd of people staging a revolt. "Pitchforks and torches time."

Not only does the body language of those posing in the photo infer rage, the visual of people holding torches, sticks, pitchforks, a machete, and an ax clearly connotes violence. To those who've followed Clarke's campaign to restore law and order, the post would seem to either contradict his past attitude towards dissenting citizens showing their aggression out in public, or to suggest a double standard as it relates to who gets to rebel. Back in August, Clarke's jurisdiction was confronted by the possibility of an all-out uprising, as journalists were assaulted, police vehicles vandalized and officials were pelted with dangerous objects following the shooting death of 23-year-old Syville Smith by Milwaukee police. After nights of broken curfews and intense confrontation between protesters and riot police, Clarke stifled the demonstrations once and for all, when he designated the National Guard to be on standby.

Sheila Dixon: Tells What Motivates Her In Write-In Campaign

RadioOnFire.com - In Baltimore, the general election is all but a formality for citywide races. Former Mayor Sheila Dixon, narrowly defeated in the Democratic primary, wants to make it one worth watching.
"I accept it but what I don't accept is what took place and what happened," Dixon told C4 Wednesday, referring to reports of irregularities at polling places in Maryland's primary. "This is not sour grapes at all, believe me. I know how to win and I know how to lose."

This week, she filed as a write-in candidate. She said she's hear from a number of city voters who believe what happened in the primary was unacceptable. The results were briefly de-certified by the state board of elections.
"They felt that this election was stolen. They felt there was some real underhanded things going on and they felt their vote didn't count," Dixon said. "Last but not least, we're in a crisis. We should not accept 300 homicides and murders a year and say that this is gonna be the norm. And I was able to show my leadership that we can reduce crime, that we can deal with systemic issues and quality of life in this city."
A write-in campaign like hers has never been successful in Baltimore, and such success is rare nationally. In 2002, then-incumbent Washington mayor Anthony Williams mounted a successful write-in campaign for the Democratic primary. In 2010, after U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, an Alaska Republican, was narrowly defeated in her primary, she became the first Senate candidate to win a write-in campaign. But Murkowski had months. Dixon has just a few weeks. Why the 11th hour entry?
"I wasn't sure," she said. "I talked to a lot of people, my pollster and other advisers who felt that the fact that I did so well in the primary and the outcome that could have possibly happened that it could have a effect on my reputation. But you know what? If I don't move forward, and it's not about my reputation, it's not about how the votes are going to turn out? it's about doing the right thing and it's about serving the citizens of Baltimore and it's about [doing] it now or never, and I strongly believe this is the opportunity to do it."
She said she still believes she's the best person for the job on a ballot that already includes her Democratic rival state Sen. Catherine Pugh, Republican Alan Walden (a former WBAL news anchor) and Green Joshua Harris.
"Right now, I believe that I can pull together the best team," Dixon said. "My leadership, my ability to get in there and get things moving right away. Let me tell you. Sen.
