Maryland State Fair Ride Operator Dies Of Possible Heroin Overdose

A 22-year-old Maryland State Fair ride operator was found inside a trailer at Timonium Fairgrounds Saturday night suffering from a possible heroin overdose. 

Baltimore County Police and Fire officers responded to the Fairgrounds a little before 9 p.m. for a report of an overdose. The 22-year-old woman's supervisor had found her in her slumped over inside her trailer when she did not show up at her assigned ride. 

Amanda Leigh Bradley, of the 7700 block of New Street in Wyndmoor, PA, was then transported to Greater Baltimore Medical Center where she was declared deceased. Police say they found items inside her trailer that indicated possible heroin use. 

The State Fair ends September 7th. No word on which ride Bradley operated, but she was employed by Deggeller Attractions.

Homicides Friday, Saturday And Sunday Bring The Baltimore Homicide Count To 222

Homicide: Southeastern District 

On August 28, 2015 at approximately 6:12 p.m. officers responded to a home in the 800 block of South Clinton Street for report of a non-breather. Upon arrival, officers located 44 year-old Michael Thompson suffering from a gunshot wound(s).  Thompson was pronounced dead on the scene by medics. Homicide detectives responded out and assumed the investigation.  Initially this incident was believed to have been a suicide, however, after further investigation this case has now been officially ruled a homicide. At this time, there are no known suspects or motives.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Metro Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-866-7LOCKUP. 

Homicide: Western District

On August 29, 2015 at approximately 3:05 a.m., Western District officers responded to the 1600 block of Moreland Avenue for report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, they found medics rendering aid to 37 year-old Daymar Rodgers of the 6300 block of Fieldview Road, who was suffering from stab wound(s).  That victim was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center where, despite the medical staff’s efforts, he died a short time later. Homicide detectives responded and through investigation, determined that this was a domestic incident.  A 29 year-old female was taken into custody at the scene.  Charges are forthcoming. This investigation remains open and ongoing.

Update: Arrested and charged with the murder of Daymar Rodgers that occurred yesterday morning on Moreland Avenue, is 29 year-old Heather Farabaugh of the 6300 block of Fieldview Road in Parkville, Maryland.  She is being charged with 1st Degree Murder as well as various assaults and weapons charges, and is being held at Central Booking.

Homicide: Eastern District 

On August 30, 2015 at approximately 12:15 a.m., Eastern District officers responded to the 1800 block of Federal Street for reports of discharging. Upon arrival, they located 26 year-old Tyvonte Worrell of the 1200 block of Glyndon Avenue suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  Worrell was pronounced dead on the scene by medics. No witnesses were located and detectives have yet to determine a motive.  This investigation is open and ongoing.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Metro Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-866-7LOCKUP. 

Non-Fatal Shooting – Northwestern District 

On August 29, 2015 at 10:50 p.m. Northwestern District officers responded to a home in the 3900 block of Edgewood Road for a report of a shooting. Once on the scene officers located a 51 year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound.  That victim was taken to an area hospital where he is expected to recover.  Early this morning detectives arrested Cory Carroll (32) of the 3900 block of Edgewood Road, in connection with this shooting.  Carroll, who is now in Central Booking has been charged with 1st and 2nd degree attempted murder, 1st and 2nd degree assault, and various firearm charges. He is currently awaiting his bail hearing. 

Southwestern District 

On August 29, 2015 at 11:25 p.m., Southwestern District officers responded to 2201 Wilkens Avenue for report of a shooting. That location is the Starlight Liquor Store. Upon arrival, they located a 19 year-old female suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  She was transported to an area hospital where she remains in critical conditions. Through investigation, our detectives have learned that the victim in this case entered the store with another unknown individual, brandished a handgun and announced a robbery.  At this time, one of the store employees produced a handgun and fired it, striking the victim multiple times.  The other robbery suspect fled the scene and still remains at large. Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to call the Metro Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-866-7LOCKUP.

4 Year Old Dies, Several Injured In Apartment Fire In North Baltimore

A four year old girl has died as a result of her injuries in a fire Friday night. Nine people, including three children, were injured in an apartment fire in north Baltimore.

Firefighters were called just before 8 p.m. to the 800 block of Dartmouth Road, where a fire is believed to have started in one garden-style apartment before spreading to others.

Firefighters said smoke was billowing from the building when they arrived.

Two people jumped to escape the fire, and three people were rescued by ladder. A woman and three kids were rescued from a second-floor apartment. Some of the victims needed CPR, officials said.

Baltimore Police Prepare For Freddie Gray Court Dates

Baltimore police are preparing for the Freddie Gray case to begin. 

Department spokesman T.J. Smith said since riots erupted following Gray's death in April, the police have received equipment and specialized training to better prepare officers for any future civil unrest. 

Riots broke out in Baltimore on April 27, eight days after Gray died of a spinal injury he received while in police custody. Six officers have been criminally charged in connection with his death. 

The first hearing in the case is scheduled for Sept. 2. Smith said while protests are "expected, protected and healthy," he said police will have "plans in place in the event of any type of unrest." 

Howard Libit, a spokesman for Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, said City Hall is also streamlining its communication with various agencies.

One Person Dead In Double Shooting In Southwest Baltimore

Police say a 37-year-old man has died after a double shooting in southwest Baltimore Thursday night in North Wickham Road at around 8:30 p.m.

The 37-year-old is the 219th murder victim of the year in Baltimore. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other victim was taken to an area hospital and is expected to survive.

No one has been arrested.

More Than 253 Corrections Employees Arrested Since 2013

The head of Maryland's corrections department says more than 253 department employees have been arrested since January 2013, and more than 200 of them are still employed. 

Stephen Moyer told state officials Wednesday the department lacks administrative measures needed to prevent people with some "pretty outrageous" charges from working in the department, which has about 11,000 employees. 

Moyer urged the Board of Public Works to eliminate 63 human resources jobs in the department and reorganize the division to make it more centralized.

The board ended up deferring the request to study ways to accommodate employees slated to lose their jobs who do not face charges.

Gov. Larry Hogan, a board member, says reforms are needed due to the rampant corruption at the now-closed Baltimore City Detention Center.

"Due to a previous hiring debacle bad actors have been allowed to slip through the process.  That is what we are trying to fix," Hogan told the Board of Public Works.

Those remarks sparked criticism from some workers who attended the meeting, as well as leaders of their union AFSCME.

Teresa Custer, who is a 23 year state employee who as worked for the Department for the last two yeas, became tearful when she described the reaction of her colleagues when they first heard about the job cuts.

"They probably thought that it was some of these correctional officers, or maybe the employees who were getting stuff in the prison.  I don't think that they thought it was people like me," Custer told the Board.

"To hold these employees responsible for the corruption in the Department of Public Safety is beyond the pale," AFSCME lobbyist Sue Esty told the Board.

Department of Public Safety and Corrections spokesman Mark Vernarelli told me that of the 63 positions to be eliminated, 59 are filled.  He says 27 of those workers would be hired back in a newly restructured department.  Vernarelli adds that at least nine would be eligible for early retirement, the rest of those workers would be laid off.

Baltimore Prosecutor To Re-Examine Allegations Against Molly Shattuck

Baltimore County States Attorney Scott Shellenberger says he will re-examine allegations of criminal activity that happened in Baltimore County involving Molly Shattuck and the victim in the Delaware rape case, now that Shattuck has been sentenced in Delaware. 

Shellenberger says his office will reach out to the victim and his family in the case. 

He would not comment any further.

Former Baltimore Ravens cheerleader Molly Shattuck was sentenced last week to 48 weekends in jail after pleading guilty to raping a 15-year-old boy at a vacation rental home in Delaware. 

The 48-year-old collapsed to her knees in the courtroom after she was sentenced and wept as she apologized. Shattuck, who received a suspended 15-year prison sentence, must report every other weekend to a probation center in Delaware, register as a sex offender and continue therapy. The teen's parents said Shattuck stole their son's innocence and urged the judge to send her to prison to send a message to potential pedophiles.

Shattuck pleaded guilty in June to one felony count of fourth-degree rape. She entered the plea just days before her scheduled trial on two counts of the more serious charge of third-degree rape, four counts of unlawful sexual contact, and three counts of providing alcohol to minors. 

The teen, a classmate of one of Shattuck's children at the McDonogh School in Owings Mill told police last September that Shattuck began an inappropriate relationship with him near Baltimore, and that it culminated with sexual activity at a vacation rental home in Bethany Beach over Labor Day weekend.

When the 48-year-old was arrested last year, authorities alleged in an affidavit for a search warrant that she picked-up the same teenager from classes in Baltimore County and took him to a parking lot in Owings Mills where they would "kiss" or "makeout" in the car.

State Police: Second Escapee Of Hickey School Captured

Maryland State Police have captured the second teenager that escaped from the Charles Hickey School on Monday. 

The 17-year-old, identified by state police as Leondro Ovalles Solano, was captured shortly after 6 a.m. in a Montgomery County motel. The other escapee was captured Monday in the Waltham Woods Road area in Parkville.

The Charles Hickey School is a youth detention facility for boys ages 12 to 18 and is located in the Cub Hill area in Baltimore County.

Multiple People Stabbed Tuesday Evening In Southwest Baltimore

Several people were stabbed early Tuesday evening in southwest Baltimore.

WBAL SkyTeam 11 Capt. Roy Taylor said as many as four people were stabbed in the area of Washington Boulevard at Harmon Avenue.

Taylor said at least one of the stabbing victims was being taken to Shock Trauma.  It's also reported that one other victim walked into St. Agnes Hospital.

Taylor said police have taken several people into custody.

As many as three paramedic units were called to the scene.

Gov. Hogan: Last Inmates Moved Out Of Baltimore City Detention Center

Gov. Larry Hogan is announcing the last transfers of inmates and detainees from the "dangerously decrepit" men's section of the Baltimore City Detention Center. 

The administration said the state-run jail with walls dating to the 19th century will be permanently closed by Tuesday afternoon. 

Hogan announced the facility's closing on July 30. The administration then began moving about 1,100 inmates and detainees to other detention centers in Baltimore to keep them in proximity to area courts. 

The administration noted that the facility's age pre-dates modern penal facility standards. It has been notorious for its blind corners, dark corridors and other hazardous conditions. 

The state has created a customer service phone line to help family members of detainees locate their relatives once they have been moved to other facilities.

Police: Woman Found Dead Inside Severn Home, Baby Found Unharmed

Anne Arundel County police said they are investigating a suspicious death at a home in Severn.

A neighbor driving by the home saw a dog going into an open door Tuesday morning. She thought it was odd and called police.

Police went into the home, where they found a woman with trauma on her upper body. She has not yet been identified.

Authorities also found an 8-month-old child, who was unharmed. The child was taken to an area hospital for observation.

No further details were immediately available.

Arrests In Drone Plot To Supply Prison Contraband

Maryland officials say investigators have uncovered a plot to use a drone to sneak drugs, pornographic DVDs and a cellphone into a maximum-security state prison in western Maryland.

Officials announced Monday that Western Correctional Institution officers spotted a vehicle on a road next to the prison on Saturday night and responding law enforcement found two men inside with a drone, contraband and a handgun. They displayed the drone and photos of the contraband at a news conference. Officials say they believe this is the first case of a drone being used to deliver contraband to a Maryland prison.

Officials say the vehicle's owner was suspected of plotting with an inmate to fly contraband into the prison and was already under surveillance. After the arrest, officials say a search of the inmate's cell turned up contraband.

O'Malley: Democratic Party Needs To Start Having Presidential Debates

Former Governor and Democratic Presidential candidate Martin O'Malley says the Democratic Party needs to start having presidential debates, so that Democrats don't get "bogged down" by questions of Hilary Clinton's emails. 

On ABC's This Week, O'Malley said it's up to Clinton to answer questions over whether she deleted classified emails from her personal server. 

O'Malley, who has criticized the Democratic National Committee for limiting the number debates, said that "we cannot allow our party to be branded by those questions of the past. 

On the issue of Vice President Joe Biden's possible entry in the race, O'Malley said that "it would be nice to have one more lifelong Democrat in the race." 
Asked by host George Stephanapolous, if that was a criticism of Bernie Sanders, who admits he is a socialist, O'Malley said his remarks were a compliment of the vice president. 

O'Malley said he would not get into a "name calling battle" with Donald Trump, who this week called O'Malley, "a disgusting weak pathetic baby," for apologizing to "black lives matters" protesters recently. 

O'Malley did say he would debate Trump on immigration and the economy. Last week, O'Malley attended a demonstration of workers at Trump's Las Vegas hotel, who were trying to unionize

Ravens Lose To Eagles in 2nd Preseason Game 40 - 17

Sam Bradford and DeMarco Murray had successful debuts, Kenjon Barber returned another punt for a score, and the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Baltimore Ravens 40-17 Saturday night.

Bradford went 3 of 5 for 35 yards and led the Eagles (2-0) on an 84-yard drive in his only series. He played his first game since tearing his left ACL for the second time in 11 months on Aug. 23, 2014.

Joe Flacco threw interceptions on his first two drives and the rest of the Ravens (1-1) didn't fare much better against a team they practiced with the previous three days.

Flacco finished 3 of 7 for 23 yards in three series. Walter Thurmond picked his deep pass that was tipped by cornerback Nolan Carroll. Byron Maxwell then grabbed Flacco's overthrown pass to set up a short scoring drive.

Tim Tebow got another loud ovation from Eagles fans when he entered in the fourth quarter. He was 2 of 5 for 13 yards and ran for 31 yards, including a 26-yard scamper. Tebow is competing with Matt Barkley for the No. 3 job behind Bradford and Mark Sanchez.

Bradford and Murray were the key acquisitions during Chip Kelly's offseason roster overhaul. Bradford was acquired from St. Louis for Nick Foles. Murray was signed away from Dallas after leading the NFL in rushing. Both players sat out the preseason opener and Murray has been held out of several practices, though he's not injured.

State Trooper-Involved Fatal Shooting Friday Night In Cecil County

Maryland State Police say an investigation is underway into a state trooper-involved fatal shooting last night in Cecil County that occurred during a struggle with a wanted man the trooper was attempting to arrest.  

The deceased is identified as Charles S. Hall, 30, of North East, Md. 

The trooper involved is identified as Trooper Daryl K. Brackett.  He is a three year veteran of the Maryland State Police, assigned to road patrol duties at the North East Barrack. 

The preliminary investigation indicates that shortly before 9:00 p.m. yesterday, Trooper Brackett was on-duty, in uniform, driving a marked patrol car through the parking lot in the North East Plaza Shopping Center, on Rt. 272 at Rt. 40, North East, Md., after answering a call at an auto parts store in the center.  The trooper saw Charles Hall in the parking lot and knew he was wanted by the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant for theft.  

The initial investigation indicates the trooper approached Hall on foot at the back of Hall’s vehicle.  Trooper Brackett attempted to arrest Hall in the parking lot, but he resisted and a physical altercation ensued.  While still struggling with the trooper, Hall got into his vehicle and began to accelerate out of the parking space.  During the struggle, the trooper fired his assigned duty pistol, striking Hall in the upper torso.  EMS personnel were summoned.  Hall was pronounced dead at the scene.  

State Police investigators are continuing to conduct interviews with witnesses.  State Police crime scene technicians responded to process the scene.

Molly Shattuck Sentenced On Child Sex Abuse Charges

Former Baltimore Ravens cheerleader Molly Shattuck was sentenced Friday to 48 weekends in jail after pleading guilty to a child sex abuse charge.

She plead guilty in June to raping a 15-year-old boy at a vacation rental home in Betheny Beach, Delaware. 

The crime carries a punishment of up to 15 years behind bars.

The 48-year-old Shattuck entered her plea just days before her scheduled trial on two counts of the more serious charge of third-degree rape, four counts of unlawful sexual contact, and three counts of providing alcohol to minors. 

The victim was a classmate of one of Shattuck's children at the McDonough School.

Baltimore Police: Embarrassed To Recover 2nd Gun Inside A Holding Cell

For the second time in the last month, a loaded handgun was found in a holding cell at the Baltimore City Police Department's Eastern District station.

Police confirmed  to WBAL-TV Thursday that the gun was recovered today.

Police did not provide further information.

On July 22, another gun was recovered from the same holding cell.

Police continue to investigate that incident.  

WBAL-TV lead I-Team reporter Jayne Miller says an internal investigation has also begun in the latest incident.  

Miller says it is police department policy to search every suspect before they are transferred to a police station.

On Maryland's News Now late Thursday, Interim Police Commissioner Kevin Davis said this incident is, "unacceptable and embarrassing."

"I can't believe this happened again. I am not happy to say the least," Davis told WBAL's Mary Beth Marsden.

Davis added that training for officers will "go on steroids," and will be "micromanaged," so that an incident like that will never happen again.

Bail Set At $1 Million For Baltimore Officer Charged With Attempted First Degree Murder Of Burglary Suspect

A Baltimore City police officer charged with attempted first and second degree murder for shooting and critically injuring a burglary suspect in December 28th was in court Thursday for his bail hearing. 

Bail was set at $1 million. 14-year veteran Wesley Cagle must surrender his weapons as stay away from the victim.

For the second time since taking office in January, Baltimore City State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby has brought charges against a member of the Baltimore City Police Department.

Mosby was joined by Interim Police Commissioner Kevin Davis at a news conference to announce the charges.

The incident took place in the 3000 block East Monument Street, when Cagle and three other officers responded to a burglary inside a grocery store.

Mosby said the suspect, 46-year-old Michael Johansen, emerged from the building "holding something shiny" and was shot by two other officers.

Mosby says that shooting was justified.

Reading from charging documents, Mosby said that as Johansen was lying on the ground, Officer Cagle approached the suspect, and stood over top of Johansen.  

"At which time Joahnsen stated what did you shoot me with. Cagle then replied, no a 40 caliber, you piece of s***," Mosby stated.

Cagle then shot Johansen in the groin.

Mosby said detectives later determined that Johansen had no weapon. She stated that her office promises to be transparent in any police brutality investigation.

Cagle is also charged with first and second degree assault, and use of a handgun in a crime of violence. He could face life in prison if convicted of all charges.

Cagle is a 14-year veteran of the Baltimore Police Department.  

Officials say he was placed on routine administrative leave after the December incident.  In early January, his police powers were suspended.

Today, after he was charged, Cagle was suspended without pay.  

Davis described the charges as, "a punch in the gut" in terms of the reputation of the police department.

Davis said that anyone who will review the facts of this case will see that the charges are justified.

Earlier this year, Johansen was charged with second and fourth degree burglary and theft of less than $1,000. He is awaiting trial.

Two People Injured As Gunman Opens Fire At Group

Two people injured when gunman opened fire on a group of bystanders, police said.

Baltimore police were called to a shooting in the 2600 block of Barclay Street at 12:55 a.m. Wednesday.

The officers were directed to an area hospital where they found a 25-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his right hand. A short time later, detectives were called to another area hospital in reference to the same incident where they found a 16-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the thigh.

Both victims are stable and in good condition and should make a full recovery.

In a preliminary investigation, detectives learned that both victims were in the 300 block of Whitridge Avenue when a man got out of a black car and open fire at a group of bystanders. He then got back into the car and drove off.

Detectives do not have a motive or further information at this time.

The shooting remains under investigation.

Baltimore’s 2015 Homicides Tie With 2014 Totals

It happened in the corner of 1500 block Traction Street in Baltimore Wednesday morning. Baltimore City Police say they were called to a vacant home at that location for a report of a dead body inside. There, they found a man with at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The homicide happened near the Penn/North Ave. metro stop, and a few feet away from the CVS that was burned down during the riots in April.

This is the 211th murder in Baltimore this year. That was the total amount of murders in 2014.

18 Year old Charged In Father's Killing In Catonsville

Baltimore County Police have charged 18-year-old Muhammad Hasnet Shakeelabassi in his father's homicide in Catonsville in the 1000 block of Southridge Road. 

Officers were dispatched at 11:48 a.m. Tuesday for a report of cardiac arrest. When they arrived at the residence, they found an adult male with traumatic injuries. The victim was declared deceased at the scene.

Police said they found evidence of stab wounds and bludgeoning. An autopsy will be conducted Wednesday.

Police said an initial investigation indicated that Abbasi's wife received a call from a relative in New Jersey asking her to check on the victim. The relative in New Jersey received a text message from Shakeelabbasi asking them to check on the victim.

When the victim’s wife went to check on him, she found him not moving and covered with blood. She called 911, and the call was dispatched as a cardiac arrest because of how dispatch software coded the call, police said.

Police said Shakeelabassi had been home earlier in the day, but was missing along with the victim's vehicle, a Honda van. Shakeelabassi was found around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, along with the victim’s van, at a rest stop on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Bowmansville, Pennsylvania. Shakeelabassi remains in Pennsylvania awaiting extradition back to Maryland.

Police said they have charged Abbasi's son, Muhammad Hasnet Shakeelabassi, 18, with first-degree murder.

Baltimore County Police have identified the homicide victim as 50-year-old Shakeel Ahmed Abbasi.

Relatives of the Catonsville man tell WBAL TV News he was a cab driver and he lived in the home for about a dozen years. A cab was parked at the home when detectives were investigating the homicide.

Three Overnight Shootings, Two Fatal, Raise Murder Rate To 210 In Baltimore

Baltimore City is just one homicide away from reaching the total number of homicides last year. There were at least three shootings on Tuesday evening. Two of them were fatal. 

A 21-year-old man was shot and killed in Baltimore Highlands before 8 p.m. About an hour later, a 28-year-old man was shot and killed in southwest Baltimore. 

A 23-year-old was shot and survived. That shooting happened along Old York Road. There have now been 210 homicides which compares to 211 for all of last year

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan Says His Cancer Is Almost Gone.

After eight weeks of intensive treatment, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan says 95 percent of his cancer is gone. 

The Republican governor told The Washington Post he still has some remnants of the dozens of tumors doctors found two months ago, "but it's dead." 

Hogan has remained active through his treatment for B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma, which includes five-day stays at University of Maryland Medical Center every three weeks. But the self-described workaholic and "touchy-feely kind of guy" says he's had to cut back his hours and avoid contact with people because of his weakened immune system. 

Hogan says doctors were shocked by his results and they hope his next scan shows all his tumors are gone. Regardless of the results, Hogan will need to complete all six rounds of his 18-week treatment.

Man Found Murdered In Catonsville Home

Baltimore County Police are investigating a homicide in Catonsville in the 1000 block of Southridge Road. Officers were dispatched at 11:48 a.m. Tuesday for a report of cardiac arrest. When they arrived at the residence, they found an adult male with traumatic injuries. 

The victim was declared deceased at the scene. Baltimore County Police have identified the homicide victim as 50-year-old Shakeel Ahmed Abbasi. Police have taken one suspect, who was known to Abbasi, into custody in connection with this incident. Formal charges have not yet been filed. Detectives believe that this is a targeted crime. 

Police say further information will be released as it becomes available.

Relatives of the Catonsville man tell WBAL TV News  he was a cab driver and he lived in the home for about a dozen years.  

They say he was a husband and a father of 2 boys. A cab was parked at the home when detectives were investigating the homicide.

Man Shot Dead In Baltimore In Porsche Robbery

Police are identifying the 58-year-old Gwynn Oak man who was shot and killed in Baltimore in what detectives believe began as a robbery. 

Police announced Tuesday that Paul Hilroy Passley was shot in the head early Monday in the Penrose area. Police say Passley's 2001 Porsche Boxster was stolen and later involved in a hit-and-run in the nearby Evergreen Lawn neighborhood, where the suspects left the car and ran.

The homicide is the city's 19th of August and the 208th of 2015.

Baltimore County Police Investigate Fatal Hit-And-Run

Police in Baltimore County are searching for the driver of a crossover vehicle that they say hit and killed a person in Essex Monday morning. 

It happened around 5:30 a.m. along Eastern Blvd and Virginia Avenue. 

The driver of the white Nissan Murano kept going. If you have seen the vehicle you are asked to contact County police.

Two More Fatal Shootings In Baltimore Over the Weekend.

Baltimore City police report two fatal shootings over the weekend in Baltimore.

The latest happened early Sunday morning. A man was shot in the 200 block of North Caroline Street. He died at Hopkins hospital.

Another man died after he went to Hopkins to get treatment for a gunshot wound. Police believe he was shot in the 2500 block of Jefferson Street. 

The fatal shootings bring the homicide rate to 207 for the year. That compares to 211 for all of last year.

Woman Dies In Northeast Baltimore House Fire

A woman was found dead Sunday night after a house fire in northeast Baltimore.

Baltimore City fire officials said crews responded to the fire at about 9:30 p.m. in the 5400 block of Daywalt Avenue.

When firefighters arrived, the home was fully engulfed in flames. While the roof of the home collapsed, firefighters had the fire under control within 30 minutes.

The woman, who was in her 40s, was found inside the home, fire officials said.

No one else was injured in the fire, and the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

Fatal Shooting In Baltimore County

The Baltimore County Police Department is investigating a shooting in Dundalk that left a man deceased.

Just before 11 p.m. last night, police say officers responded to the 2900 block of Cornwall Road 21222 for a report of shots fired. When officers arrived on the scene, they located an adult male victim sitting in a Honda Accord. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body and was declared deceased at the scene.

The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Tyrone Anthony Creighton of the Unit block of Ambo Circle 21220.

This incident is under investigation by the Baltimore County Police Homicide Unit. Detectives will be working to determine if this was a targeted crime.
